THANE: To improve the education system in municipal schools, the TMC's education department plans on starting additional classes for its students. The classes are scheduled to begin by November 27. This project is the first of its kind wherein the TMC has working on improving the educational quality in its schools.
The civic department has been under a lot of pressure over several issues in the past.
The department, however, has worked hard on improving the quality of education in the last two years.
The additional classes are popular amongst private-run schools and for the first time, the TMC schools will also hold similar classes.
Speaking to Thane Plus, Suresh Gada the chairman of the civic education department said that the TMC selected 300 students to be part of the additional classes. "We know the ability of these students. As they cannot afford any additional classes, we are doing this for them," he informed.
The TMC will be aided by desire foundation, an NGO and will be for students studying between Std I and Std IV. "We will begin our venture on November 27, as it is Mahatma Phule Memorial Day," added Gada.
The TMC has already approved of the proposal and the education department is hopeful that the additional classes will benefit the students.
